The fall season brings a price cut to many vacation destinations. The "shoulder season" -- the time between the summer season and the off season, which starts after Labor Day -- offers great travel deals. CNN reports that many destinations, including Europe, Las Vegas and Disney World, are less expensive during this time.
Here is a sampling of some of the deals we found on the Internet for some popular destinations. For the best rates, be flexible in planning and book your trips early.
• $535 Disney World Resort
Eat for free at Disney World in Orlando, Fla. with the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan. The Examiner reports that the resort is offering a 5 day / 5 night package for adults that includes room, meals, transportation to the park and admission each day for $535.
• $469 Iceland Package
Iceland is also on sale with Iceland Air offering a flight and two nights stay from $469 in November. There are other fees and taxes, but the sale is still a much better price than booking flight and hotel separately.
• $449 Washington, D.C. Package
BudgetTravel.com lists a weekend trip to Washington, D.C., including flight and 3 nights hotel, starting at $449 from JetBlue. The package lists a stay at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites, in Alexandria, Va., but there are other choices. Fares vary from different cities and there is no deadline, but is based on availability.
• $379 Mexican Riviera Cruise Package
Norwegian Cruise Lines is offering a 7-day round-trip cruise to the Mexican Riviera from Los Angeles starting at $379 for interior rooms (and ocean view rooms with balconies from $629). The trip sails on Sept. 26, 2009.
• $21 Las Vegas Hotel
BudgetTravel.com reports a number of Vegas hotels are cutting prices and adding perks like free breakfast and discounts on entertainment. The site found the Fitz Casino and Hotel Las Vegas offering rooms from $21 per night and the Stratosphere Las Vegas Hotel and Casino, from $29 per room per night.
